Ms. Tharanga Nawaratne is a fine product of Museaus College, Colombo -07.
She had shown her leadership qualities even from the time of her school days, as she was a school prefect and a house captain of her school. She was a bright student who excelled in her studies including in G.C.E. Ordinary Level and Advanced Level Examinations.
She was also a versatile student who had actively participated in many extra-curricular activities including athletics, netball, singing and drama. She had been the athletic champion in several sports meets.
Ms. Tharanga Nawaratne is a qualified educationist with a sound academic background in education as well as several years of exposure and experience in the field of education.
She holds a Bachelor of Science degree (BSc) specialized in Environmental Studies and a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from the University of Colombo. Currently, she is reading for her Masters of Education (MEd) at the Asia E University in Malaysia.
She has been serving in the field of education for close to 20 years in different capacities in several prominent international schools in the country.
She had served as:
A principal – (Nearly 4 years)- Royal International School, Kurunegala (Primary Section)
OKI International School, Kaduwela (Preschool to O/Level)
A teacher – (Nearly 15 years)- Lyceum International School, Ratnapura
A part-time lecturer –(5 years)- Lyceum Academy for Teacher Education
(At present) Horizon Campus, Malabe.
Ms. Tharanga Nawaratne also has shown multiple talents as an author of many children story books, a script writer, a director of stage dramas, a choreographer, a song composer and a poet.
Her never ending passion for her country, for children and for teaching had made her to establish ‘Shelidian’ with her visionary idea of moulding well-balanced personalities by blending with nature, keeping-up with culture and aiming for future. Her mission to achieve this vision is to provide an environment for holistic and futuristic education.
‘Shelidian’ will definitely provide a different learning experience to her dearest Sri Lankan students.
